Description

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is a large, space-based observatory deployed into low-Earth orbit by the Space Shuttle Discovery on April 24, 1990. Operated primarily by NASA with significant contributions from the European Space Agency (ESA), Hubble has spent over 36 years in space, completely rewriting our understanding of astrophysics and capturing some of humanity's most iconic views of the cosmos.
